PRODUCTS

Q. Does Marvin make replacement windows?

A. Yes. The Ultimate Casement, Ultimate Insert Double Hung Window and Tilt Pac Double Hung Sash Replacement System are made specifically for replacement. Either of these replacement products can be installed without disturbing the interior trim or exterior of your home. Both the Ultimate Insert Double Hung Window and Tilt Pac can be ordered in a wood or clad-wood exterior. Additionally, any of Marvin's full-frame products can be sized to fit existing openings.

Q. Are Marvin products energy efficient?

A. Yes. Marvin products with insulating glass, Low E II and Argon glazing meet Energy Star Requirements in all four regions.

Q. What is the difference between an insert window and a standard, full frame window?

A. An insert window is installed into the existing window frame. Insert replacement windows are installed without disturbing the interior trim or exterior of your home. Full frame replacement windows are appropriate when the entire window needs replacement-for example, when it's substantially out of square or has deteriorated beyond repair. The window-including sash, frame and casing is replaced.

Q. What is the difference between the Ultimate Insert Double Hung Window and the Tilt Pac Sash Replacement System?

A. The Ultimate Insert Double Hung is a complete window unit used when higher performance or traditional interior aesthetics are desired. The frame of the Ultimate Insert Double Hung is placed inside the frame of your existing window. In comparison, the Tilt Pac consists of replacement parts including an upper and lower sash, hardware and vinyl jamb liners for improved operation.

Q. What is the difference between Ultimate Double Hung and Magnum Double Hung Windows?

A. Ultimate Double Hung Windows come in a wide range of standard sizes appropriate for residential construction. As an Ultimate Double Hung Window increases in size, the weight of the sash requires more robust construction and built-in assistance to aid its ability to be opened and shut with ease. For this reason, Marvin has created the Ultimate Double Hung Magnum Window.

Q. I own an historic home. Can Marvin meet historic requirements?

A. Yes. Marvin can produce historically accurate windows. Marvin offers traditional wood construction and authentic, single-glaze divided-lite options, as well as custom sizing, casing and glass options.

As the focus on energy efficiency has increased, many historic preservation committees will also consider Marvin's aluminum clad products with insulating glass. Marvin's simulated divided lites and ability to extrude historically accurate window profiles and casings offer historic home owners an energy efficient, low maintenance choice.

OPTIONS

Q. Can I paint or stain Marvin products?

A. Yes. Marvin products may be painted or stained. Marvin products can be ordered as "bare wood" for staining, or you may choose the "white-primed" option for painting. If you purchase all-wood products, the wood exterior must be finished with an exterior paint. Marvin's clad-wood products do not need to be painted on the exterior. The extruded aluminum cladding has a low-maintenance, baked on, commercial-grade Kynar finish-the toughest available. Clad products are available in 19 standard colors. Marvin can also create custom colors to coordinate with your home's exterior.

Q. What are Marvin's hardware options? Can I change the finish of my hardware?

A. Marvin offers an extensive selection of hardware finishes, including both traditional and contemporary choices. Additionally, Marvin Architectural Hardware offers additional choices for Marvin's line of swinging doors. Talk to one of our experts at Marvin Window and Door Store about what hardware and finish options will look best with the Marvin products you have selected..

Q. What are "glazing options" and why are they important?

A. "Glazing" is the technical word for "glass." The glazing options you select will impact the overall energy efficiency of your new windows. Low E II with Argon is standard. Argon gas, Low E and other reflective coatings are available to help control heat gain and loss. Let our staff help you select the right glazing options for your window and door products.

Q. Are screens available for my replacement windows? What are the options?

A. Yes. Each Marvin window and door has at least one screen option. Information on screen and mesh options can be discussed with any of our experts at Marvin Window and Door Store.
